Claybar Treatment

claybarYour vehicle is under constant assault from airborne pollutants. Brake dust, industrial fallout, acid rain deposits and rail dust can all adhere to your vehicle.

These contaminants often contain metal particles, which accounts for the ease with which they penetrate the clear coat to attack the paint below. The contaminants then oxidise, and allow rust to spread beneath the clear coat. Tiny orange spots today, total paint system failure tomorrow! Detailing clay works by grabbing contaminants that protrude from the surface of the paint. This includes things like industrial fallout, rail dust, brake dust, tar, bugs, and tree sap. Detailing clay removes these contaminants in order to keep the paint healthy and vibrant.

Virtually all vehicles, including new cars, can benefit from detailing clay.
Even with dedicated waxing, certain contaminants can penetrate the paint. Each car journey brings new contamination from the roadway, such as debris, exhaust films, and airborne pollution. Even vehicles at the dealership often arrive from the manufacturer with rail dust and brake dust embedded in the paint, incurred during transportation to the dealership.

Paint contamination

Paint contamination consists of tiny metal shavings from rail dust, brake dust and industrial fallout. This contamination affects all paint finishes and can cause serious damage when left untreated. Paint contamination can be felt as a "rough or gritty" texture on the paint's surface and can lead to tiny rust spots. This contamination can not be removed by washing, waxing and/or polishing. The clay process itself does absolutely nothing to remove swirls or scratches, It simply removes the impurities from the paint as stated before. Claying is a very important treatment when necessary and contributes effectively to obtaining that deep, glossy shine.
